In Response to your Reddit Post

Hello!

I've followed your plugin for a little while now and I just saw your post about in on Reddit earlier today. I noticed there was some feedback given in relation to the MIT license but I also noticed that you had removed the post and any of your replies in the comments.

I wanted to reach out to you in case the feedback in that thread was discouraging or if you weren't clear about what the problem was that was brought up on Reddit.

My understanding is that the only reservation from some users on Reddit was that you had edited the LICENSE in your repo and changed the official MIT license. If you want to have "additional restrictions" on your license, you will need to simply choose a different license. Alternatively, if you don't actually want those "additiona; restrictions" then you can simply reupload the MIT license in its original form, unedited.

Both options will solve the issue that people raised on reddit and will hopefully this "issue" going forward if you decide to share your work again.

Either way, keep up the good work and I hope you won't be discouraged by some of the feedback you've received.

If you want to find other community developers like yourself, try joining the Jellyfin Community Discord as there is a lot of work going on in there in a similar scope to your plugin.

Just to clarify, I didn’t remove the Reddit post because of the license feedback. After sharing it, I noticed that the plugin had actually already been posted before by another user:

I also saw that the original post didn’t get much traction, and I didn’t feel comfortable re-posting the same project again so soon, so I decided to remove my post.

So the removal wasn’t related to the license discussion the license itself was copied directly from gharmonize and wasn’t intentionally modified to add extra restrictions.

Still, I really appreciate you pointing it out and taking the time to explain it that was genuinely helpful. And thank you for the encouragement as well, it really means a lot.

Ah okay that totally makes sense!

Well I hope you will update the LICENSE to be the correct MIT license, and that in the future as you continue to develop the project that you will share it again on Reddit for others to find!
