How can I disable text wrapping for text passed to a spinner?

I'm currently trying to display a potentially long command next to a spinner. The command text has been assembled with the options overflow="ellipsis" and no_wrap=True, but when it is passed to a Spinner it appears to wrap regardless.

Notice how the /tmp/marktenvymmjjwx appears on a new-line beneath the spinner.

Is there a way I can accomplish this behaviour?

Your flags are lost because Spinner.render rebuilds the text every frame with Text.assemble which creates a fresh Text whose no_wrap and overflow are unset

If you print the spinner yourself pass the options at print time

console.print(spinner, no_wrap=True, overflow="ellipsis")

Inside Live or status you cannot pass print options so wrap the spinner in a small renderable that forces them

class NoWrap:
    def __init__(self, renderable):
        self.renderable = renderable

    def __rich_console__(self, console, options):
        yield from console.render(
            self.renderable, options.update(no_wrap=True, overflow="ellipsis")
        )

with Live(NoWrap(spinner), console=console):
    ...

Works because Text falls back to the console options when its own flags are unset

The Text options don't survive here in the way you might expect because Spinner.render() assembles a new Text for each frame. The reliable place to impose the constraint is therefore the render options around the spinner, rather than only on the Text supplied to it.

For a directly printed spinner, console.print(spinner, no_wrap=True, overflow="ellipsis") is enough. For Live/Status, where those print options aren't passed at the call site, a tiny wrapper can update the render options before delegating:

class NoWrap:
    def __init__(self, renderable):
        self.renderable = renderable

    def __rich_console__(self, console, options):
        yield from console.render(
            self.renderable,
            options.update(no_wrap=True, overflow="ellipsis"),
        )

Then render NoWrap(spinner) in Live. This works with the current rendering path because the newly assembled Text can inherit no_wrap/overflow from the console options when it doesn't carry its own values.
