A cosmological hypothesis exploring whether gravitational distortion and repeated deflection of light could cause some astronomical objects to appear multiple times in our observable universe, potentially affecting our interpretation of large-scale cosmic structure.
Thesis: The map of galaxies we observe may not be identical to the actual map of the Universe. Gravitational fields may guide light along multiple paths, and some objects that we consider to be different galaxies may in fact be multiple images of the same underlying objects. Cosmic expansion could therefore be, at least in part, a misinterpretation of this optical geometry.
If this is true, we should be able to find:
Pairs or groups of supposedly different galaxies with practically identical “fingerprints”: the same spectral lines, chemical composition, stellar populations, and internal structures, even though they appear in very different regions of the sky. The same objects could appear rotated, mirror-reversed, or distorted because their light reached us along different paths. Time-shifted copies. A single galaxy could appear multiple times at different stages of its evolution because the individual light paths have different lengths. Correlations between objects separated by large angular distances. Galaxies located in completely different regions of the sky could exhibit statistically improbable similarities in their structures. Multiple images even where no sufficiently massive conventional gravitational lens is visible. This would be particularly interesting because the current model would have difficulty explaining what curved the light so strongly. Different images of the same underlying physical object should preserve the same fundamental physical signature, even if their brightness, shape, orientation, and arrival times differ. And the boldest prediction: after identifying and removing all confirmed “repeated images,” the observed redshift–distance relationship could change. If that relationship weakened significantly, it would directly challenge the interpretation of redshift as evidence of cosmic expansion.
The strongest test of this model would be: Find two very distant apparent “galaxies” that are actually the same physical object, while no sufficiently strong known gravitational lens exists between them that could explain the multiple images under current theory. And for the Gravitational Vacuum hypothesis: Detect the disappearance of a black hole as a transition from a dark state to a luminous state.
téza: mapa galaxií, ktorú pozorujeme, nemusí byť totožná so skutočnou mapou vesmíru. Gravitačné polia môžu svetlo viesť viacerými cestami a časť objektov, ktoré považujeme za rôzne galaxie, môže byť viacnásobným obrazom tých istých objektov. Expanzia by potom mohla byť aspoň sčasti chybnou interpretáciou tejto optickej geometrie.
