Custom case for a 3.5 Cheap Yellow Display intended to be used with common wireless auditing firmware such as Halehound(trademark) by @JesseCHale (https://www.halehound.com) and Bruce firmware by the Bruce Team (https://bruce.computer)
MISCELLENOUS ITEMS MAY BE MISSING/IN PROGRESS/TESTING, MOST ARE MINOR QOL ADDITIONS
FEATURES:
- Specifically designed to fit all radio modules currently supported by popular firmware.
- As with most things, appearance and size are important, square is boring...fight me.
- Modular aspects allow more freedom in choosing what modules to use for things like battery, radio module, etc.
- Status Readout on 128x32 OLED incorporated into bezel to see real time info (Battery voltage/percentage, active radio etc.) run by a secondary MCU (in this case a Raspberry Pi Pico) making it firmware independent.
- Easily accessable boot/reset buttons.
- Dock/stand for storing and display, while still allowing for full touch access for use while in stand. currently supports charging in dock through physical C port on device
BOM:
- 3.5 Cheap Yellow Display (resistive, although capacitive fits as this case was originally designed around capacitive touch, it has less support in firmware)
- C1101 sub-Ghz module (HW non amplified -or- EBYTE E07 amplified module) note chosen firmware can effect module compatibility
- nRF24 2.4Ghz PA+LNA module
- GPS module // recommend modules with external IPEX connector.
- PN532 RFid module (ELECHOUSE v3/v4 square red board)
- 128x32 OLED display (4pin i2c)
- Raspberry Pi Pico. gen1 or gen2 can be used as well as "W" models but are overkill for its current implementation. If you intend on modifying the Pi's code to add functionality then a more powerful gen2 may benefit you but is not necessary
- LiPO Charge/Boost module // The current design uses a battery charge module with integrated boost converter and charge LED although any style could be used with modification.
- Type C module (FEMALE, USB2.0) not necessary if you choose to use a charge module that incorporates a C connector on the board but most likely will not fit into case design as intended, but the charge interface on the case was designed to be modular so additional designs/modules could be created by the user or added later
- 6mm momentary switch (x2)
- Micro slide switch // SS-12F16 is what was used in design but anything with a 11x6mm housing with mounting wings no longer than 20mm and overall width less than 6mm
- 5mm UV LED not IR!!! this is power status LED, UV fits best with theme as designed and gives better effect shining through the white filament printed lens but any color could be used
- 10uf Capacitors
- Various resistors
- M3 allen head machine screws of various length
- M3 heat set inserts minimum of 4 M3x8mm recommended per design to be used in mid-plate, although 8 M3x4mm's can be used if that's what is on hand. Using single 8mm's creates a much stronger overall assembly and is preferred
- Adhesive - Recommend both two part epoxy (black) and UV activated resin/glue or superglue (clear)
WIRING: Follow wiring diagram applicable to intended firmware. In depth information and diagrams can be found on each firmware's github and/or webpage.
CASE ASSEMBLY: Directions for assembling case and different configurations can be found under 'BUILDGUIDE' in this repository.
ADDITIONAL MODULES/REQUESTS: As this project is intended to be modular, hardware I have access to currently has been implemented where applicable. As I acquire new boards/modules/hardware additional implementations will be added where possible. Don't see something you need that would benefit being added? Provide any applicable information relevant to its implementation and I will do my best to add it. Wanna contribute? Feel free to reach out through the appropriate channels.
