Self Extracting Archives not Extracting

Hi,
I am running on a C128. I have put the installation onto a blank disk (directory is apps.c12, core.c12, help.c12, samples.c12, and scripts.c12), however when I type either 'dload "*"' or 'dload "core.c12"' and try to run them they open the machine language monitor saying 'BREAK' (Core.c12 says the PC is $0001C, the SR is $30, the accumulator, x, and y are 0, and the SP is $F6). No files have been extracted onto the disk.
